The Need for Action

Home | The Need for Action

For too long a time, Nigerians have been enslaved in poverty, economic and political oppression by the ruling elites, who in the past decades till the present time, have hijacked INEC and entrenched vote-rigging as a sustainable unscrupulous means of capturing and retaining political power, thus undermining the electorates and their democratic rights to choose, elect or remove their political leaders through credible elections. This is sadly the basic reason responsible for Nigeria’s recurring failure of political leadership.

Today, elections in Nigeria have become a “cash-and-carry” transaction, where victories are bargained and pre-determined by INEC and the ruling elites. Our elected politicians do not feel obligated to provide good governance because they know INEC is there to assist them to retain their political seats by rigging elections in their own favour, regardless of how poorly they perform in office.

Until INEC and the ruling elites are not anymore allowed by Nigerians to elect politicians by vote-rigging, the much-desired good political leadership will remain a mere wish. Today’s political realities have shown that Nigeria is truly not a democracy but a pseudo-democracy (fake democracy), where politicians are not elected into political seats by electorates but by INEC and the ruling elites through fraudulent elections. This trend has to be reversed, in order for democracy to become a reality in Nigeria, and YesWeCan2027 is the platform created and designed to help actualize this goal.

As it stands today, youths and women have the power to fix Nigeria’s problem of bad political leaders, and this power lies in their huge voting capacity and the wise use of their ballots. This is why youths and women must ignite a ballot revolution in 2027 and enforce a democratic regime change aimed to help terminate elite political dominance and also activate the adequate political inclusion of youths, women ans other competent ordinary Nigerians.
